Whew, ok, I don’t feel so bad. The connector I cut out of donor wiring was not part of the removable harness, so I had to cut it anyway. Anyway, while it was still early, took care of the bigest thing, had my dad help me swap the rear hatches. Next I swaped over the side markers, wired the blinkers back to original (this is also why when I first got it, it was doing the rice superfast blink action because the bulbs it was driving was not drawing enough power), got the bumper back on. It was looking tantalizingly close so I worked through lunch.
To get to that reverse light switch, removed the intake hose and was able to sneak a socket in and take off the incorrect switch. Unfortunately, my style switch I can’t use a socket on. So in order to get a wrench in there, I have to take off the fan, drain the radiator, take off a hose. This fluid’s not quite milk coffee colored. Yet another case of to fix one small thing having to go through a bunch of work. I’m just barely able to get in there and tighten the switch. Sorry for the lack of pics, but I was to intent on working. The hoses are hooked back up, intake back on, fan reinstalled, radiator refilled with water.
I pull the battery from the AE86 to hook up to test. All the lights look good, even the reverse lights! I swap wiper blades with the donor, wipers work, horn beeps! Oh yes, I put the AE86 back together and the horn works pathetically. The ground isn’t very good, but there’s enough to get a feeble honk. Back to FX. Finally I test the winshield squirters. Bastage, yes I filled it with water, no it doesn’t work. Sometimes safety they don’t look at that. I’m taking a break right now, I’m pretty pooped and its prob too late to get a safety check. So as it stands right now, need to swap the windshield washer, replace the broken side view mirror, and make pukas in the front bumper for the liscence plate bolts. To replace the windshield washers, I’m going to have to jack up the cars, loosen fender liners. Hopefully can do it with just that. I’m taking a break and writing this before the last push to get this done. Here’s the Yin and Yang FX’s:
