If you happen to be in the Seattle area, Jason Teraoka will be having a solo art show, “Homesick,” at the James Harris Gallery. If you’ve seen his works before, the imagery of people bearing their internal conflicts and experiences as expressions on their faces will be familiar. From the sample images that JT showed me, there are some nice and interesting uses of color and light in this new crop of paintings that I really like. When I told him that I liked his use of impressionistic color and chiaroscuro, I was surprised that he didn’t call me a pompous ass! The show opens tomorrow night at 18:00 and runs through 28 March 2009. Check it out if you’re in the area!
Here’s the address:
James Harris Gallery

Oh… and if you happen to be on the right coast, check out some of JT’s works in the group show, “Figuratively Seeing,” at the Sandra and David Bakalar Gallery at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston through 03 March 2009. Look here for more info.

I passed the invite off to Gunboy, who knows of JT, so he might take his wife and go…
Talked to Mr. Wong and his wife at the opening. Can’t remember where I met him before, but for sure he looked familiar. Nice of him to stop on by. Was a pretty mellow opening, me being from out of town. Atleast it will still be up for the areas “First Thursday” gallery crawl. Prolly get more peeps then. Good to be home, except for the jobless part!
