Okay, the rubber friction piece on the handlebar mount instantly peeled off between the first use and second use. Contact cement should remedy this. I suggest purchasing a second mount if you plan on moving this light between bikes. There are both identical replacement mounting brackets or a hose-clamp style ones available. I’ve had mixed experiences with both types, so I can’t really recommend one over the other.
While washing the light after a mud ride, I accidentally dropped it on the bathroom floor. The bezel took the hit, slipping by the bayonet-mount groove, cocking to one side, and cracking the housing. By sculpting the sides of the main housing to have stylish flat sides, Cateye designers removed critical material from this area. I have dropped the older model with no ill effects. The light went back together and still works. Hopefully some Tenax solvent cement will repair the crack and the light will retain its waterproof rating.
The locking switch is good. The new bracket is questionable – the old non-removable one worked fine. The styling at the expense of structural integrity is bad. The brightness is good.

Update:
Tenax cemented the cracks in the styrene plastic shut fine. I haven’t tested if the housing remains waterproof though. Whatever rubbery material Cateye used for the friction piece is like teflon to contact cement! It absolutely will not stick. Silicone however appears to have worked successfully.
