Clustering

And you know what, I wish people who’s seat has not been called yet
for boarding would not crowd and cluster around the head of the line.

  • Last time I went to Maui, Raiatea Helm jumped the queue and cut in front of everyone who was waiting patiently for boarding. Not like she pre-boarded with premiere club priviledges or anything like that, she sat until they announced general boarding and rushed the front. Worse, the staff just let her in.

    FTP!

  • Yeah, I don’t get it. You have confirmed assigned seats, it’s not like they’ll give your seat away until they make sure you’re really not there. They just make a mess of things by causing a disorganized crowd. Boarding our LAX/SLC flight was especially bad, there was such a huge crowd that Fab and I when it was our turn to board couldn’t tell who was & wasn’t boarding & you end up standing behind a person who was just standing there taking space & not moving.
We need more people like the Air Canada sister who didn’t take any crp and told you to go away and sit down if your section was not boarding.

  • JAL at HNL has gotten more proactive about that “your row hasn’t been called, sit the F back down”. It’s still anarchy on the JDM though, depending on region. Seems like most kokunai flights it’s premier club then mass boarding, and for kokusai at NGO it’s the same. Kokusai at KIX and NRT is by rows.

A lot of this problem is people who have more than the mandated carry-on allotment trying to get in fast so they can fill up the bins in the areas adjacent to their seat. The “one bag” rule really has to be enforced, especially now in the “added baggage charge” era where people try to bring as much krapp on board as they can get away with.
