Weld the Night Away

I look like a freakin matador in that welding “cape” jacket I bought this past weekend. After I got home wednesday evening, I continued working on the floor patch. Did some more shaping (a.k.a pounding with hammer) of the metal, close enough to work. It’s no work of art, but it’ll do the job. Then broke out the welder and started on welding the patch onto the replacement floor pan. Started off ugly, and ended up cranking up the welder. As it got further into the night, I actually got better. A work in progress! Here is the panel on the side I started first. Not horrible, although this is a nicer spot, and I had to go over some of the first welds with another bead to fix it up. And then to the right is how I was doing at the end of the night. Not bad, although I’m going to need to make some patches to fill some of the holes I burned. Hope the neighbors aren’t too annoyed at my late night welding session.

Oh yeah, the matador jacket works pretty well, kept the arms protected while still being cooler than a full shirt. I do need a cotton cap though, more than once some glowing bits landed on my head, one was bad enough for me jump and stamp my head to make sure I didn’t have a little fire going!
