Plans for a beat the rain ride washed out so I’m out putzing in the
neighborhood. Heading up kal hwy toward hanauma bay. I seen the roadie
when I turned onto the hwy, so I was well aware of him when he finally
caught up to me the downhill past the bay. Start moving toward right
when he calls out “on your right!” Wtf? U from down under? That’s not
the correct side to pass!

Ok, looks like it may be time to blow my system & restore. It’s been
sluggish, sound works off & on, CDs stop burning, DVDs take 2 hrs,
card reader stopped working. Bleah. Hope I can find all s/w installs.
Arrived back, they really need to do something about the Wiki Wiki
shuttle, its really kind of embarassing. thankfully the weather is
cool. Im still on j time, i passed out after lunch, and now after
dinner im wide awake.
Some observations from this trip, bag is a little too big, encourages
taking too much, i didnt use all that i took. Makes it very awkward
when you cant roll it, and there is no side handle. That made it hard
for baggage handlers. Will need to tell Dakine.
Why do all these people want to go to Hawaii? Looks like itll be a
packed flight.
That was remarkably inefficient, took almost 45 min just 2 check in. Good thing bus got here 4 hrs b4 flight.
Now 2 find food. Hm, looks like it Schones Wasser Beer Restaurant 4 me! 4 beer sampler it is! Ale clean, just a touch of smokiness. Dry, very subtle hops, if i didnt know i wouldnt have id it as a pils. Weiss hard to differtiate from pils, if i try hard i might say its a touch sweeter. Stout a smooth creamy goodnes, smokiness us really understated.
Last day here, splurge & get kegani pasta. It is wonderfully crabby! The sauce is imbued with crab essence, Derek would prob be reaching for the Benadryl. Green salad good w/ fresh herbs. A bed of shredded cabbage is hiding underneath to fill it out, but thats alright. If there’s any criticism, the tomatoes are a bit mealy with signs of them being refridgerated.
$38 meal? It is at airport, id say it was worth it!
Good timing, 1 hr to flight.
And so it ends, last dip in onsen, this time with the nice open rotenburo snow falling while soaking. Then find the bus. Still snowing, but sun is coming out! There at least a good 8cm on railings of places i walked around yesterday. On mountain must b even better!
(0)March 15- winds totally calm, snow still coming down, this time in gentle fluffy flakes, not the corn meal pellets after lunch yesterday. All the bare spots seen yesterday are covered, the trees are dusted
giving a etheral glow. Parked cars are almost featureless white blobs tires half buried. Once again leaving too early. Im sure Kokusai will be an awesome powder playground today. Such is life, i’ll have to leave it to some other pirates to poach!
Jozanke Grand pretty nice, stuffed from dinner, pretty good food. Only thing is still cant get away from cigarette smoke. Only bummer about this trip is all clothes are going to be messed up. Snow is really coming down & windy. Hope doesnt interfere with my travel tomorrow!
(0)Luckily there’s a ramp running along stairs. Dragging bag through the slush is prob just as painful. The wind is nasty. Wander around a bit & take pics. Pop into small mom & pop ramen shop. A decent bowl of shio ramen to fill & warm up. Rain has turned into corn meal snow and some really nasty gusts of wind. What had been slush on sidewalks is hardening up and will soon be evil lumpy ice. Go back to hotel, its something of a ghost town anyway.
Will not have time to hit slopes if it does open tomorrow, bus is at 10:10 & ill have to drag all my stuff up the street to the bus stop.
Time to c if can check in & hit the onsen.
Todays a wash, Kokusai is closed. Crap, shuttles not running, im going to have to hike it to hotel in the rain. Bus fare is a freebie though. Gonna have to pay for it with pain of hiking up the hill with full load of luggage. Good thing i got a wheeled bag. Too big to haul up stairs though, so I’m going to take the long way around.
