Usually all you find at stores here from Balast Point are variations of IPAs so when I saw this pale labels as Kolsch style had to do it. Pours clear bright yellow, medium head. Fairly strong hop aroma, unfortunately this third bottle I’m having I think has suffered from light struck. I don’t recall the first two being as skunky and they also had a nice grain finish. How unfortunate, if I were to judge on this bottle I’d go with a 2 out 4 monkeys.
Mt. Begbie is the craft brewery located in Revelstoke, and this is their kolsch. Pours clear bright yellow with moderate head. Moderate hops aroma, Clean crisp and dry. Ends with a very nice grainy finish.
Solid 3 bordering on 4 easy drinking monkeys
From winter variety pack, pours opaque black with moderately strong head that dissipates. Chocolate and roast malt aroma. Surprisingly mellow bitter. Mediun mouthfeel, not as heavy as might be expected of a bock. Quite smooth really.

Saisons seem to have a reputation of being funky, literally. I was a little worried when I pour it and could detect some of that skunky odor that I often find in pilsners, but oddly enough when I actually drank it did not detect the funk. Pours a cloudy light yellow with fairly strong head. Strong citrus and fruit aroma, the fruitiness making an almost li hing note. A lot like a Heffe, but not as heavy on wheat. There’s a sweet, but the middle and end is dry. Crispness from strong carbonation.
A pleasant beer, although with the rice koji and yuzu it technically wouldn’t be a beer.

We keep being told by the locals that it really nornally the isnt this crowded. Yesterday we again experienced a massive line at the lift. Seems kids were out of school and the road to the east was closed due to the snow over last night trapping some people here until midday. Once we got out of the lines though, we found stashes of uridden in the trees all day So it was a good day.
today will be transit and tourist day.
The Revelstoke Snow Gnome webcam shows an honest 11 cm overnight! Looks like today is the day of this trip. Forecast for the rest of the week is nothing today then some snow but rising freezing levels. It’s is also a non-holiday weekday, it ends up that our Presidents Day was Canadas Family Day, a National holiday. Hopefully that explains the massive queue lines we experienced Sunday and yesterday. Arrived Saturday to an overcast Vancouver, picked up rental RAV4 (winter tires an additional $25 a day? Ouch!) Road trip to Revelstoke did become challenging after sundown with rain and fog. Did eventually make it safely.
Tired after a day of pretty fun riding thie Tuesday, will try to update more details later. Tonight is forecast for a decent amount of snow up on the mountain, so tomorrow may be the best day. Also being a weekeday and non holiday, it hopefully will not be crowded.
Winter variety pack from Sam Adams, and wow, not an IPA in sight! How refreshing in a time where I saw a Guiness IPA. 
First bottle I grabbed is the Holiday Porter. Pours opaque black with moderate strong head. Dark roast aroma, spicy hops. Fairly strong bitter throughout. Pretty heavy mouthfeel mitigated by crisp carbonation and astringent finish. Nice dark, perhaps not my favorite, but decent.
Just gets 3 out 4 non-IPA monkeys.
Seasonal Sam Adams, Winter Lager pours dark amber with moderate head. Brewed with spices. You can detect it in the aroma, but can’t figure out what. The bitter is even throughout. Nice roast grain finish. Medium mouth feel. I’m generally not a big fan of flavored beers, but this one is nicely done.
