Chris manages to free up some time to join us for a ride. His rusty legs and butt feel the strain of the climbs and the repeated beating of the saddle, but as he says, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153there are good bike rides and better bike rides.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Chris gets stuck in traffic at Makapu\u00e2\u20ac\u2122u because of some HFD rescue, so shows up a little tardy. Danny and Sara get a head start and climb the road for parts unknown. When Chris shows up, we climb to the <em>Mango tree<\/em> where we expect them to be, but they aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t there. We assume they started into the <em>side loop<\/em> without us, so proceed into the trail thinking we will run into them at some point. We complete the loop and come out onto the road and see them coming down <em>Government Road<\/em>. Apparently, a miscommunication led them to the end of the road.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sara has taken a dose of vitamin Rip and vitamin Hammer, and Chris and I have a hard time keeping up as she lights the dirt on fire on the <em>Ditch Trail<\/em>. At the rest stop at the <em>inner loop<\/em> trailhead, my face stings with sweat. On we go. My Maui conditioning has given me a jolt of Go-power. Again Danny and Sara have taken a head start, but I catch up to Danny at the <em>upper trail<\/em> junction. I yell at him to turn, but he disappears around the turn. We later regroup and climb the <em>cardiac hill<\/em> to the <em>big tree<\/em>. Chris gets to try out the <em>shoulder knocker<\/em> trail. Dropping the <em>fat guy singletrack<\/em>, we return to the <em>Ditch<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Pain and suffering!<\/p>\n<p>We must have more!<\/p>\n<p>Up the <em>inner loop<\/em> we go, taking few breaks on the lung bursting technical climbs. The ground conditions are beautiful and the traction great. A brief rest to choke the lungs back down into the ribcage, and down the descent we go. A fast blast out the <em>Ditch<\/em> and down <em>Government Road<\/em> and we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re back at the start.<\/p>\n<p>D = 11.7 km (7.26-miles), Vavr = 12.6 km\/h (7.8 mph), Vmax = 31.5 km\/h (19.6 mph), T = 56-minutes (total ride time approximately 1-1\/2 hours)<\/p>\n<p>Pictures <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/gallery\/v\/Fooligans\/080713\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hot.
