{"id":275,"date":"2007-09-04T14:06:09","date_gmt":"2007-09-05T00:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/blog\/2007\/09\/04\/little-lost-lamb\/"},"modified":"2007-09-04T14:06:09","modified_gmt":"2007-09-05T00:06:09","slug":"little-lost-lamb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studionewmedia.com\/blog\/index.php\/2007\/09\/04\/little-lost-lamb\/","title":{"rendered":"Little Lost Lamb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ckucky, Root, <em>Big Poppa<\/em> (Chris),\u00c2\u00a0and I did a slightly-earlier-than-normal St. Louis F\/R yesterday so we&#8217;d have enough light for some photos.\u00c2\u00a0 It was Labor Day, so the earlier time frame was not an issue for anybody.\u00c2\u00a0 It was definitely hotter even being just an hour earlier.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/gallery\/d\/18124-1\/IMG_9387b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" vspace=\"5\" align=\"left\" width=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/gallery\/d\/18125-2\/IMG_9387b.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" height=\"150\" style=\"width: 150px; height: 150px\" \/><\/a>We dropped <em>upper Dumps<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0all the way to the log where we all discovered that the rain-soaked rotting bark was like white lithium grease spread all over the log.\u00c2\u00a0 Pushing back up the side trail before the log, we went up\u00c2\u00a0past the <em>inner loop<\/em> and <em>mainline<\/em> to\u00c2\u00a0<em>sideline<\/em> and did the root drop jumps in the clearing.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->While we were there sessioning\u00c2\u00a0the jump for photos, someone in tight bike wear on either a fitness bike or XC rig\u00c2\u00a0came up the trail.\u00c2\u00a0 Nearly simultaneously, a\u00c2\u00a0helmetless dude on a CroMo Voodoo hardtail came down <em>mainline<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 XC person (for some reason I visualize a matching set of white\/silver\/light blue wear, like the old Giant team uniform, even the helmet), disappeared\u00c2\u00a0down some trail into the <em>inner loop<\/em>, having seen all the armored hooligans blocking the trail.\u00c2\u00a0 Helmetless dude lingered silently\u00c2\u00a0for a while, then started to talk to us&#8230; something about being injured from being hit by a car and having just put the bike together, so he wasn&#8217;t going to do any hard riding.\u00c2\u00a0 He did a roll-up to the giant kicker and did a wheelie\/roll-back, so it appeared that he at least knew what he was doing on a bike.<\/p>\n<p>When we decided to move on\u00c2\u00a0to the <em>Taco jumps<\/em>, helmetless dude followed us, blasting the small jumps on <em>mainline<\/em> and generally ripping all the way down.\u00c2\u00a0 So much for taking it easy&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0He put us all to shame on the jumps which\u00c2\u00a0had been recently recontoured with more kick at the lip.\u00c2\u00a0 We dropped down through the bermed turns and rode back up <em>mainline<\/em> a bit to the second drop-in and helmetless guy followed.\u00c2\u00a0 down through the twisties and rock drops we bombed, two-wheel drifting the\u00c2\u00a0turns and power-wheelieing the exits.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Going straight through onto <em>Hammock trail<\/em>, we made our way down to the concrete, then rode\/walked\/pushed up to the upper tank so Ckucky could see the new <em>punji<\/em> trail.\u00c2\u00a0 All the while,\u00c2\u00a0helmetless dude tagged along.<\/p>\n<p>Dropping the <em>punji<\/em> trail then junctioning onto the <em>exit<\/em> trail, we rode out in the dark.\u00c2\u00a0 My speed was pretty good, and I hit all the jumps fine, even though I only had the little Cateye LED headlight and it was decidedly dark.\u00c2\u00a0 Habituation, I guess&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 At the bottom, we made dinner plans while watching HPD hassle somebody in a Saturn Ion.\u00c2\u00a0 After a fairly long pause, helmetless\u00c2\u00a0dude tried to figure out when it was that we rode, then excused himself and went off in the other direction when we headed to Kanewai\u00c2\u00a0park.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s not like we disliked him or anything: It was just a bit inappropriate how he\u00c2\u00a0wheedled into the ride group.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0He wasn&#8217;t even following us &#8211; he inserted himself in the middle of the pack!<\/p>\n<p>We rode back\u00c2\u00a0to Ckucky&#8217;s house via Waialae\u00c2\u00a0Avenue, bumping into Jeff and Sara at Zippy&#8217;s.\u00c2\u00a0 Dinner was at Hokkaido Ramen on 11th. Ave.\u00c2\u00a0 I had the enormous\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;Mabo tofu crispy noodles&#8221; for $6 plus tip.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll give it a <em><strong>C<\/strong><\/em> since I got heartburn.\u00c2\u00a0 I think the Mabo tofu is better at Sumo Ramen in Market City&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>More pics here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/gallery\/v\/Fooligans\/labor07\/?g2_highlightId=18108\">http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/gallery\/v\/Fooligans\/labor07\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>D = 5.81-miles, Vavr = 7.1 mph, Vmax = ?
