{"id":407,"date":"2007-11-01T15:13:13","date_gmt":"2007-11-02T01:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/01\/herd-of-selfish-cows\/"},"modified":"2007-11-01T15:13:13","modified_gmt":"2007-11-02T01:13:13","slug":"herd-of-selfish-cows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studionewmedia.com\/blog\/index.php\/2007\/11\/01\/herd-of-selfish-cows\/","title":{"rendered":"Herd of Selfish Cows?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll warn you in advance that this is going to sound mysogynistic&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Very<\/em> mysogynistic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At what age do women stop being people and become cows?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This morning, I had finished a delivery on the upper floor of a building and caught the elevator down.\u00c2\u00a0 When the doors opened at the ground floor, there were 5-6 large women standing directly in front of the door.\u00c2\u00a0 They were blocking the way, so I couldn&#8217;t get out.\u00c2\u00a0 I was in the door opening of the elevator, so they couldn&#8217;t get in.<\/p>\n<p>Impasse.<\/p>\n<p>It litereally took long enough for the doors to start closing before one of them got it through their thick skulls that for them to get into the elevator, they had to let me out first.\u00c2\u00a0 The problem was that they were selfish cows.\u00c2\u00a0 Okay, how does that work?\u00c2\u00a0 Let me explain.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These women were <em>selfish<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 Their\u00c2\u00a0thought processes were something like,\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;I have to get in the elevator, and get in before everyone else, and only things with &#8220;I&#8221; in it\u00c2\u00a0matter&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 They didn&#8217;t care who was waiting in the elevator lobby the longest &#8211; I&#8217;ve seen them sneak around other people to get in the front of the line before.<\/p>\n<p>These were <em>cows<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 They work as a herd.\u00c2\u00a0 If nobody starts moving, nobody moves.\u00c2\u00a0 they will stand stubbornly until someone makes a random move, or makes a command decision.\u00c2\u00a0 This goes for other things too &#8211; like sending the kids to soccer or getting those Swarovski crystals on their pedicure.\u00c2\u00a0 If so-and-so enrolls her kid in Little League, everyone else in the peer group has to also.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve <em>never<\/em> arrived at the ground floor and had my way blocked by a bunch of men.<\/p>\n<p>It continues.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis and I took the work van and go to <em>Yamagen<\/em> to pick up lunch for the office.\u00c2\u00a0 When we got there, there were 4 cows around the order window.\u00c2\u00a0 They were hemming and hawing over what to order.\u00c2\u00a0 We had phoned in our order, so\u00c2\u00a0it was just a matter of giving the cashier the $24 that I already had counted out and grab the food <strong>and go<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 Unfortunately, the cows were blocking the window.\u00c2\u00a0 The cashier called out one previous order.\u00c2\u00a0 The Japanese National whose order it was <em>could not\u00c2\u00a0get to the window to pick it up <\/em>because the cows wouldn&#8217;t give way for him to approach it!\u00c2\u00a0 They still hadn&#8217;t decided what to order.\u00c2\u00a0 The cashier called out another pick-up.\u00c2\u00a0 The girl waiting also had trouble getting to the window to retrieve her order.\u00c2\u00a0 WTF?!<\/p>\n<p>They finally order one by one, but instead of going to sit down, they lingered in a herd, still blocking the window so Japanese dude couldn&#8217;t get to the window again to get a spoon or the bottle of shoyu for his <em>tsuekmono<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 One cow paid for all of it, then the herd stood still\u00c2\u00a0blocking the window trying to make change.\u00c2\u00a0 The girl who just picked up her order managed to squeeze by at this point.\u00c2\u00a0 The herd finally moved toward the seating area, but before I could get my order (which was getting cold at this point), one of the cows returned to the window, pushing, litereally, in front of me,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Can\u00c2\u00a0I switch this Pepsi for a Diet?&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll warn you in advance that this is going to sound mysogynistic&#8230; Very mysogynistic.
