It had been on station to launch the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thuraya.com\/content\/thuraya-3.html\" title=\"Thuraya\" target=\"_blank\">Thuraya-3<\/a> Satellite, but they experienced weather issues that forced them to scrub the launch.  Thuraya-3 will extend Thuraya coverage into Asia beyond &#8220;the sandbox&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/img_3955.jpg\" title=\"img_3955.jpg\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/img_3955.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"img_3955.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Odyssey is the launch platform for the SeaLaunch system.  It was built upon a very large oil drilling platform, and then supersized.  Driving past on nimitz there is no way you could miss this, its HUGE.  They were just in for a day to get fuel, and were gone by the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/img_3935.jpg\" title=\"blast shield\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.studionewmedia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/img_3935.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"blast shield\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">SeaLaunch has had a difficult year.  In January, they had a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hkSVRanIj3A\" title=\"BOOM!\" target=\"_blank\">serious malfunction<\/a> of the launch vehicle, resulting in the complete destruction of the blast shield.
